Bangkok has got many good hospitals and they deliver very good service. The service is very fast (in private hospitals), the hospitals have very modern equipment and the atmosphere is not really like a hospital. There are often shops and restaurants for the visitors.
Doctors are very often educated overseas and can speak good english. Also the nurses are often good in english and some hospitals have nurses that can speak other foreign languages, like Japanese or Arabic...
Other advantages in Thailand are that you can visit a specialist in a hospital without having to see a generalist first, which is needed in some countries. You do not have to wait for a very long time to get a certain operation, as there are not really any waiting lists. Thailand is also profiling itself as a world leader in medical tourism and this is visible when visiting the hospitals. As for a good service the costs including the airplane ticket are still often cheaper than a treatment at home, people choose to fly to Thailand, have a certain operation or treatment, maybe even take a small holiday, and fly back home.
Something everyone can make use of in Thailand is just paying a visit to your dentist for cleaning your teeth. The dentists here are very good and cheaper than in many people's home country. Just having the coffee and sigarette stains taken of your teeth. Also a whitening treatment is a very interesting option here in Thailand. |
